Palmcroft – Beginning of School Supplies
Please remember to bring these in

THIS SUNDAY!!

It is that time of the year when we can help Palmcroft with some supplies.  Listed below are some items that they need.  You can bring them by the Church and we will get them to the school before it starts.

*Children’s underwear – sizes 5-10
*Tums
*Ibuprofen
*Kleenex
*Spiral Notebooks, one subject
*Sheet protectors, heavy duty
*Ziploc baggies, all sizes

In addition to Palmcroft, we have several teachers in our congregation that might need some supplies.  You might want to ask them what they need.  If I have missed anyone, I apologize; just let me know.

*Sarah Akins
*Brenda Bentley
*Anne Hurt
*Bob Rammelt

Thank you for helping out!
Any questions, see Karen Conde or contact the church office.

REMINDER:

From Pastor Bob
Regarding New CDC Guidance

It was disheartening to hear on the news that the Center for Disease Control (CDC) is once again suggesting that masks should be worn at indoor events.  This includes those who us who have been fully vaccinated.

While these are merely “guidelines” issued by the CDC, we would be foolish not to follow their recommendations.  Yuma County remains in the “moderate” category for risk of transmission, but if you have followed the numbers, you will have noticed that they seem to be increasing.

This is the recommendation that has been issued by the CDC:

 – If you are fully vaccinated, you can participate in many of the activities that you did before the pandemic.

– To maximize protection from the Delta variant and prevent possibly spreading it to others, wear a mask indoors in public if you are in an area of substantial or high transmission.

 – Wearing a mask is most important if you have a weakened immune system or if, because of your age or an underlying medical condition, you are at increased risk for severe disease, or if someone in your household has a weakened immune system, is at increased risk for severe disease, or is unvaccinated. If this applies to you or your household, you might choose to wear a mask regardless of the level of transmission in your area.

 – You should continue to wear a mask where required by laws, rules, regulations, or local guidance.

As I said, Yuma County appears to be at a moderate level of community transmission, but other areas in Arizona and nearby California are at a substantial or severe level.

The Trinity Leadership Council has not taken any action in modifying our mitigation measures.  As your pastor, I would recommend that we return to wearing masks when we are gathered as a group for worship and other activities.  We have been doing a great job of maintaining some physical distance in worship and I would hope we would continue to do this.  While we are not currently requiring that masks be worn, I would encourage you to protect yourself, and others, by wearing a mask at least when you are entering or exiting the Sanctuary.

As we continue to practice responsible mitigation measures and with God’s help, we can continue to come out of the COVD-19 pandemic.

Best Blessings,

Pastor Bob

Clergy & Lay Leadership Development Team

Membership to Discipleship
August 9, 2021, at 7:00 PM

Do you enjoy having opportunities to grow as a leader and to learn from other leaders? Do you find it enriching to share leadership ideas, concepts, and inspiration with others?

Opportunities are available to anyone in the Desert Southwest Conference interested in learning through a focused discussion of mixed media leadership resources, such as books, videos, podcasts, webinars, etc. Leadership is explored from various perspectives, including resources that look at leadership from more than one cultural lens.

A number of one-hour, virtual evening conversations are offered this year. The first one is on the book “Membership to Discipleship,” by Phil Maynard. This online discussion will be facilitated by Rev. Galene Boyett on August 9, 2021, at 7:00 PM. Click below to register.

You are always invited to access the book, video, webinar, podcast, that interests you, prior to the date when its presentation is scheduled. You will still find benefit by joining the discussion if you are unable to review the media ahead of the presentation. Click on the links below to purchase “From Membership to Discipleship” through Cokesbury or Amazon.
